About matching the levels, what kind of mic pres will you use? will you record to some kind of daw/computer workstation, or to analog tape? depending on what kind of mic pres you have, they may not have precise level meters...

Ldc or sdc - the akg c480b and c460b suggested by kurt are indeed very good mics. i've never tried the c460b, but i have tried its more expensive brother, the c480b, and it sounds great on violin, piano, choir...just about anything. also, both models hav

About matching the levels, what kind of mic pres will you use? will you record to some kind of daw/computer workstation, or to analog tape? depending on what kind of mic pres you have, they may not have precise level meters...

Akg c480b - it's a very good mic. i use it and have used it at times where i wanted/needed to use a small diaphram pencil condensor mic. vocals would be the absolute last place i would use that mic - but then there are times i'm sure when it would be just

This is a small diaphragm condenser suitable for overheads, acoustic instruments, hi hat, snare (sometimes), percussion .... it can be used on vocal but ymmv .... there should be a foam wind screen. I would use it or a pop...

Akg c480b - a friend of mine lent me an akg c480b mic, what do you think of the microphone, what did you use it for? and would i be ok to record vocals. thanks mark
