Better cams and better head designs, basically. The 695 makes the same poke as the 800 (which was designed about 3 years prior). The 1000ds makes a hell of a lot more than the 900 ever did, and is smoother...

Anyone have this problem?
i have a 2007 sport 1000 that heats up to +260deg on moderate cool days, while a buddy of mine has the same bike with full fairings that only gets to ~220deg. the bike intermittently shuts...
