Its new in the box and lists @ sweetwater for 200 bucks. turns out i dont need it ...As the one i received already had one in it. i'll let it go for 100 bucks....

Sound card suggestions - it also depends on your choice of converters. suppose you fancy the focusrite octopre or anyting else with adat outs, you might want to look into an rme madi setup. needless to say, firewire or mlan is something completely diff

You could try daisy-chaining multiple firewire devices. the m-audio range may suit your needs and a few select models are now supported by a specialist version of pro-tools. hope this helps....

Trying to set up a studio - the digi 002 does have adat lightpipe inputs though! you can get like a focusrite octopre, presonus digimax, or even a behringer ada8000 and have those extra 8 inputs. why the need for pro tools? do you just want the name

Simple solution: -get at bare minimum 512 ram -tascam fw1884 $1300 (control surface/mic pres/etc) -digital performer $329 when you have extra cash: -a second hard drive dedicated only to audio -uad-1 project pak for the time being you can use the softward based eq, compressors,...

8 mic pre unit with adat (light pipe) out - i have a focusrite octopre, and though it obviously isn't in the league of its bigger brothers (or other high end pres) it's doing it's job in a really good way; i'd say it's a great workhorse for my basic trac

M-audio makes one called the octane, but i have idea how good it is. i expect it has a no frills sterile sound....

Mixing metal drums - yeah, ive seen the digimax series, as well as the octopre's by focusrite. there are others with 4 channels that might be better also. i have about a month to decide. thanks to all of the replies

Most important thing for the sound would have to be the preamps. What are you using as far as pre's go? those are really gonna make the biggest difference for heavy metal drums. imho it really helps to use coated...

Welcome to r.O! you get what you pay for. If you only have $300 you can't be picky and you can't expect to get a decent quality unit either. your likely to get much better value for your money getting...

The 4 channel sytek is around 800 and that can have two sets of different preamps. 1 really clean set and the burr brown option with a little color. I own one. And use it regularly. there isn't much out there...

Need some help with 002 adat - hey people i am looking at trying to get those extra 8 channels out of the 002 with the adat optical can anyone recomend some brands of great that have that adat optical i know beheringer makes the ada8000 but what other one
