Problem... only two pre's - hahaha, i only use triggers as reinforcement rarely or if i'm recording a metal band with fear factory influences.

The 1820 sports 2 mic pres and 6 line inputs ... So if possible, get a mixer like a mackie 1604vlz and use 6 of the 8 direct sends into the e mu ... Or see if you can...

Problem... only two pre's - just borrow/rent a mixer man. run the direct-outs of the mixer into the remaining 6 line inputs i'd say use the two pre's on your card for the oh's

Problem... only two pre's - i'm a bit sketchy on all this, but basically meaning its got two mic level in's with pre's and then the other 6 are line level, not mic level? meaning they are too high or low to mix well? i assume if the level is coming in too

Good preamp - your not going to find anything very good at that price. you might consider finding a used mackie 1604vlz. it has 8 direct outs. you should be able to find one in vgc within your budget.

If there is no such beast to give me 8 pre's in one rack space for 500-700 bucks then just let me know of some good pre units that i could get that would add up to 8 channels yet...
