Definitely go balanced if you can get it within your price range. If it means too much strain on your budget, un-balanced may work very well - depending on your environment. where are you supposed record? are there any disturbances...

How would you spend 15,000? - saw studio - 2k rme fireface 800 - 1.5k avalon ad2022 - 2.5k pendulum quartet - 2k pc built for audio/dual monitors etc - 2k or so adams s2a - 1.5k at 4060 - 1k at 4040 - 300 neumann u87 - 2.5k sm 57 - 80 akg c414

2 rme fireface 800 units - i just figured everything out...i finally understand how to use the multipin connectors with the ad16x and da16x. all i need is a digital 16 channel soundcard that has the dsub connectors, and the lynx aes16 seems to be a great

Why would you want to? to me, this is like buying two sets of converters when you only really want one. somebody else can chip in if i get something wrong, but each fireface has 8 ad's and 8 da's, plus...

How to use external converter with system? - i'm in a similar boat. although i need to track with 16 live channels. i'm quite interested in the rme fireface 800, and would be getting 2 of these daisy chained. i'd like to use an apogee ad-16x or 2 rosetta

You could get the optional x-firewire card built in to the rosetta 200, and connect directly to the computer using firewire. You would need either winxp or mac os x, and an available firewire port. This way, the rosetta would...
