my rig:
abit nf7-s 2.0 with zalman nb-47j
zalman cnps7000-alcu (with soft mounted fan, ghetto style)
barton 2500+ slightly overclocked to 2000 ghz
1024 mb dual channel ram (200 mhz fsb)

I can't find zalman zm400b-aps on the recommended list of psus, only the zalman zm300a-apf is there. Is this for any reason?

congratulations for the site and the forum !
i've quiet a silent configuration and the noisiest part is the psu. This is a zm400b-aps which is very quiet at startup but after 10min it's not quiet anymore.

But i just don't think it'll fit into my case.
i've got an inwin q500n with an epox 8rda3+ mb, so the fins will stretch out vertically, with air flowing through them from the front to the back of the case.

This is a revision of the previous zm400a-aps. The only thing known in advance about it is that it has sata power connectors now. However, there are other changes as well.

Does anyone know any other differences between the apf and aps models apart from sata connectors?
does the apf not work with sata hdds or do you need to buy additional connectors?

I've got an amd athlon xp 2400+, and a dfi ad77 ddr athlon atx motherboard - http://www.Dfi.Com.Tw/product/xx_product_spec_details_r_us.Jsp?product_id=1010 and the cpu is running at around 60 degrees c, and around 70 at load (room temp is around 25 - 30 degrees... just splurged on the arctic cooling vga silencer, which made my computer parts drawers fuller by 1 specimen of zalman zm80: one heatpipe, two nice big heatsinks + mounting.
